Introducing the TrueAchievements Discord Server

Our TABot which gives members their Gamertag as a nickname and verifies that they have been automatically blocked by Discord for spamming (likely due to the number of members it is trying to process).

We’ve appealed and expect Discord to remove the ban, but unfortunately we don’t know how long that will take. In the meantime, you might want to refrain from joining the discord or linking your account. We’ll keep you posted with more news as soon as we have it.

Original story
Discord has been the go-to chat platform for gamers for a few years now, and here at TrueAchievements we are often asked if we are planning to launch a TrueAchievements Discord server for our community.

Initially, we thought it was easier to keep the community discussion going in the TrueAchievements forums. However, a Discord server offers many advantages over a forum, including its immediacy, prevalence on mobile and desktop, and voice channels.

We are happy to announce that we have taken the plunge and built the TrueAchievements Discord server.

To properly use the server, you will need to link your Discord account to your TrueAchievements account – you can do this on this page.

Your username in the TrueAchievements discord

Linking your account will set your nickname on the server to your Gamertag, making it much easier to identify your friends once you’re on the server. If you update your Gamertag on Xbox, we’ll pick up the name change the next time you’re scanned by our scanners and apply it to your Discord handle as well as your profile on the site.

TA Pro Members

TrueAchievements Pro account holders will also have a yellow star next to their name to indicate their Pro status, and will have access to certain server-only Pro channels.

Based on feedback from Pro members, we may retire the existing TA Pro Discord server and migrate these channels to a Pro-only section of the general TA Discord server. Tell us what you think, pros!

Server rules

Most of the normal TrueAchievements rules also apply to the Discord server, with a few exceptions. Please also follow the Discord community guidelines. You can read them all here.

Remember that access to Discord is a privilege, not a right. Failure to follow these rules and/or continued troublesome behavior will result in a permanent ban from the server.

  • No aggressive behavior, harassment or threats. Playful banter is okay, but don’t be an asshole.
  • No political or religious discussion.
  • No spam or excessive vulgarities.
  • No bigotry, racism, nazism, homophobia or other forms of hate speech. We strive to be a welcoming and open environment for all players.
  • Do not impersonate TGN staff or other members.
  • No porn, gore or NSFW material is allowed.
  • Moderation decisions are final. Please do not obstruct chats with discussions or complaints about the actions of moderators. If you feel like you’ve been treated unfairly, reach out to another member of the Mod Team.
  • Keep all spoilers in the Spoiler Chat channel.
  • Don’t tag or bother developers for moderation issues or bug reports. A moderator will handle issues in the Discord and can submit bug reports.
