Industry mourns the loss of Bob Gladstein

Can’t believe I’m writing another article about another soul in search marketing dying at an early age. Bob Gladstein, someone who has been in the research community for probably twenty years, died unexpectedly on Friday night at the age of 57.

Bob went under the Twitter alias of @bubba_ji and you can see it, he was answering SEO questions on Twitter last week. His Twitter bio summed him up well: “Organic SEO guy; Unhipster of a trendy city ”. He was super active in old SEO forums like HighRankings forums and the like. He was just a genuine, good guy.

Julie Joyce from Link Fish Media sent me this about her friend Bob:

Bob and I are going back …

I don’t remember if we first met online talking about music or movies, but it was one of the two. He and I had very similar tastes in both and I always looked forward to his movie reviews on Instagram because out of all of them there was only one I had seen. He had fantastic anecdotes and always had a great story about a band that I loved. Last week he accepted my invitation to join an FB band and I was absolutely thrilled and grateful that we had another good Devo story.

He was an incredibly intelligent man, without arrogance or ego, with such deep knowledge. I will miss our discussions very much and know that the people who knew him have incredible memories of a truly wonderful human being.

There are many more stories and comments about it on Facebook – I can see him, but I’m friends with him on this platform. I can’t share private messages here but it’s so sad to read.

Bob – you will be deeply missed by the SEO community.
