I need advice on file encryption

Hello. I need advice on file encryption. Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I want to encrypt some files on my hard drive.
I am currently not interested in email. Files are my concern.
I’m also not interested in encrypting the entire drive. Just a few files.

I am currently using TrueCrypt.
Yes, I kept the TrueCrypt installer file long before they stopped distributing it and installed it on every new computer I owned.
I’m afraid that one day TrueCrypt will no longer install on a new version of Windows.

I have researched PGP but cannot find an actual program to download.
I am not a computer scientist; I wouldn’t know what to do with source code or command line.
I need a program with a simple “dummy computer” user interface.
I’m looking for a program that I can download that will allow me to encrypt files on my hard drive and decrypt them when I need to work with them. In other words, something like True Crypt which is more up to date, not to say, supported.

Most importantly, it cannot be a subscription. I don’t mind paying once for software, but it can’t be a subscription. A subscription makes me dependent on the continued existence and goodwill of the publisher. Additionally, a subscription usually requires the user to be online. It’s just not a good role model for me. Freeware or one-time payment to own, I can do either, but there can be no limit to my use and reinstallation on all of my current and future computers.

Sorry for being so wordy, but I’m looking for a direction and hope someone can find the time to point me in the right direction.

Thank you.
