Guy Pearce: Technology is fascinating and disturbing | Entertainment

Guy Pearce believes that the evolution of technology is “both fascinating and disturbing”.

The 53-year-old actor – who plays an ex-policeman trying to track down the kidnapped daughter of a man who makes AI machines in “Zone 414” – admitted to having mixed feelings about technological developments and how which they are applied in real life scenarios.

Guy – who stars alongside Matilda Lutz and Travis Fimmel in the film – explained, “All the evolution of technology and where we’re headed and this quick desire for very smart people who are inventing technology to create versions of us. themselves is really kind of fascinating and disturbing at the same time.

“And the idea that these robots, these androids, will become more human or more human than us, or will they become human at all? You know, it’s also fascinating.”

Guy admits that making the film has left him with serious questions about the ever-growing influence of technology.

He told Sky News: “Where does humanity really come from? Where is it sitting? Is it just injected into us as humans or is there just as much humanity. in a chicken, but just because it doesn’t speak we don’t let it be known and so could it be implanted in a robot?

Despite this, Guy conceded that he was not particularly good at using technology.

The Hollywood star explained, “If Siri accidentally turns on, I immediately say, ‘No, stop, I don’t need your help, go!’

“I’m not much of a Luddite, but just an old man I guess – it’s interesting to have Monty, my little boy. He’s only five years old, so he doesn’t really know what is going on yet. is possible on a screen, but you certainly see it being drawn and I know there will clearly come a time, probably very quickly, where it will be one step ahead of me. “
